Farewell Poem
This poem is my note,
For I fear I shall not outrun
These hounds nipping at my feet
Or the Hands pulling at my hair.
To the few that really know me;
Forget my face,
Ignore the memories,
and tell your children of the fairy tales.
The stories of a consumed girl who lived in a hummingbird's nest. The girl who found herself flying in her sleep and humming with the stars. The monsters she shared her home with stole her humanity, and turned her thoughts to instinct and obedience.
She could live her entire life in the forest, but she found that when one word was said aloud, the flowers wilted and the mice decayed.
So the taciturn girl lived in the hummingbird's nest, hiding from her demons; and with a terminal breath, gently lulled the forest into a reticent, perennial slumber, away from fear or consciousness.
For I fear I shall not outrun
These hounds nipping at my feet
Or the Hands pulling at my hair.
To the few that really know me;
Forget my face,
Ignore the memories,
and tell your children of the fairy tales.
