It Starts With Us (Part 2)

So many voices reach up to heaven, For only God can create in us a hope worth holding
While their bodies are broken and tortured by hands created for a better purpose than this
We stand idly by, Reading reports and crying indifferent tears, It sickens me to my core
But who am I to criticize, I too lay at night thanking the stars that I am safe inside a home

Schools are brought to their knees, By children so angry they would wreak havoc on themselves
Churches are safe havens to those with a white blindfold so preciously placed over their eyes
Streets are covered in litter, shit, spit, change and those seeking the coins of the rich
As we shuffle on by, Sheep in a polluted pasture, Marching to the gallows we built ourselves

How do we change a thousand years of tradition, How does one affect a billion lives
How do we rise above the hopeless tirades of the clueless tyrants in every office
How do we reprogram our hearts and minds to accept that which we are taught to discard
Does it start with me, Does it start with you, I believe it starts with us

Let us be one for all, And all for one
Let us all give some, So one never gives all
Let us be whole in our endeavors
So we are never split apart by ignorance
