PERRIN THE CARPENTER

PERRIN THE CARPENTER

It was a lovely sunny morning and ‘Perrrin’ the local carpenter was on his way to the workshop where he produced his ‘Poetic Ornaments’.
Ornaments such as birds, squirrels, dog’s even small buildings such as churches were all hand carved beautifully, and were exquisite and meticulous in their detail.
Attached would be a small metal plate engraved with his poetry, or even messages of hope, even requested messages from his customers.
Perrin used everything at his disposal to create the very best of his work.
He would often be found typing out poems on his computer and saving them for future use, along with his vast array of poems, poets and prose.
The internet was a great place to also display his work as a carpenter and a poet.
His favourite website was “Timber-Cuts” which allowed members to display their skills working with wood in many and varied fashions.
From tree carvings with a chain saw, to whittling with a knife, Penknife Cutting, and fine intricate carvings such as Perrin’s.

Perrin had a deep love of poetry, because he could express himself using the written word, which in turn gave him ideas to coincide with his carvings.

Taking a sip of his freshly made coffee, he heard the ‘ping’ of the alert on his computer telling him he had a message.
Taking just another mouthful of coffee and a bigger bite of his chocolate biscuit, he then looked at the message it read …

[font=Lucida Sans Unicode,Lucida Grande]“Hello Perrin, my name is Alsea. I have been reading some of you poems and I am amazed at your gift with words.
Would you mind if I sent you a sample of my work to peruse? [font=Lucida Sans Unicode,Lucida Grande]I would [font=Lucida Sans Unicode,Lucida Grande]appreciate your critique”

This message surprised Perrin because he knew nothing of Alsea.
Obligingly, Perrin replied…

“Hello Alsea, Thank for you asking me to look at your work. I will do so and will give my critique once I have finished”.

Over the coming weeks and months several documents had been exchanged and both Perrin and Alsea had read all manner of literature and they had both laughed and cried, and had debates about when they might meet in person.
They lived thousands of miles from each other and yet this distance had not even entered their heads amidst the steady pace they were travelling towards each other emotionally!

It was the season of goodwill …yes “Christmas Time” and snow had already fallen at the beginning of November. Roads were heavily laden with snow and Perrin’s shop had not had the usual good trade this year.
He had been sat in front of his open log fire warming his hands, and was ready to fill another glass of Jack Daniels, when he heard the door bell ring.

It was playing ‘jingle bells’ who could this possibly be at this hour he wondered.
Again the door bell rang just as he was unlocking the door.

Goodness Me! Perrin howled as he held out a welcoming hand to his visitor.
What er’ how’... Alsea you never warned me you were coming!!

As Perrin invited Alsea in he made her comfortable, before she explained … you see Perrin I wanted to be you’re special Christmas present and, meeting at last seemed the best present I could offer. (Also ensuring I didn't get lost in the Christmas post like presents often do...She giggled).

After a long chat and a few drinks, Perrin invited Alsea to stay for dinner, even though she had booked into a hotel for a couple of nights.
As the evening progressed the sounds of laughter were delicately interrupted by some soft music. The sound of soft exchanges of words and at one point both Perrin and Alsea shedding tears as they gently comforted each other.

Perrin had not been in a relationship for many years and had instead channelled all his thoughts and emotions into his work.
Alsea was a writer for a Travel Bureau and had also ploughed herself into getting promoted to where she was now.
Somewhat inebriated they both decided to try and have a dance on the rug which lay in front of the log fire.
At first they did their own little dance but as they came close to falling over, it wasn't long before they realised that dancing together with their arms around each other gave them better balance…and had a hint of ‘closeness’.

Perrin in his ‘less than sober’ state said “Alsea I have a message for you” Alsea replied, yes Perrrin? Perrin slowly said “My dearest Alsea, I feel we have become more than just friends and I have two important requests to ask of you.”
Why yes of course said Alsea please do ask!

Perrin stood up straight, held Alsea’s face between his hands and first kissed her gently on her beautiful soft pink lips which were already pouted for him.
Firstly, I want to hold you closer, so close that we can feel each other’s heart beating.

Secondly, I want us to go to bed and make love all night long, and then in the morning after breakfast…I would appreciate you’re critique!
