Can you see me?
I can’t see me.
Trapped faceless within your shadow I wait for you to recognize me.
But you go on while I stray closely behind.
You leave me alone in this shell of a world,
Never having the chance to walk outside and to be seen.
I'll never have the chance to talk with those who love me.
All you do is throw me into a closet and pretend you don't hear my cries.
I love you, but I know deep down you will never express that feeling back.
Why do you hurt me?
Why do you hurt yourself?
I see it all through my window eyes.
You join in on the parade with the other clowns.
You know you're nothing like them, yet you continue.
Do you truly believe what you see in them is true?
They're lying to themselves just as much as you are.
When I see you standing in front of me do you know what I see?
A young, beautiful, unique and intelligent being.
Oh! How I would love to tell you this.
But you keep me hushed.
I often wonder what you see in me.
I'm probably nothing more than the cheap and fictitious facade you created.
I cannot make you change your view of me.
Only you can.
Only you have the strength.
I only want you to know that I will be here,
With open arms and a welcoming smile,
When you are ready to accept us both..
Only you and those you let can deform me.
So please don't let them look at me differently for I will fade away.
