Discretion's Hand
A romantic notion with no place
in lecture halls and seminars,
where we're told our minds
are filled with non-biodegradable
garbage,
chivalry is dismissed as out-dated.
We could break it down to gestures
and psychology, but the radiance
of a sunrise isn't examined under
microscopes.
I saw you extending your hand
quietly, without the fuss and flair
of a puddle-drenched cloak,
with a firm grip on the canons
of justice.
For Craic, who'll have to suffer the spotlight for a lil while...

ahh, my eyes my eyes, turn it off :)
course I got to save this one. I'll try be as unbiased as possible.
Some years ago circumstance dictated that police forensics made a kind of mannequin of me and put clothes belonging to me on it, it felt weird to see me like that.
this poem is like that, but in a much better way.
Thank you most kindly dear Lady for this. It's wonderful to read, I like how you start off with a philosophy of sorts then personalize it with the last stanza.
shine on, missus, shine like an arc light

I'm glad you like it - pop some shades on, be cool... Easy enough for DU's favorite lepperochan.
Tis an observation, wrapped in a poem, noted and shared...
(I'll drag that police story out of you, sooner or later. Wth, mannequin? lol)

He is a darlin' man ... good to see him get recognition in such a perfectly poetical way...

Oh, hey, Craic, the poem was worth it for the comments, eh?
Yes, Petit, a bit of recognition does a world of good, thank you.

Wow! Your ink on this is great in every way. These lines sealed this magnificent piece, " chivalry is dismissed as out-dated. We could break it down to gestures and psychology, but the radiance of a sunrise isn't examined under microscopes." Brilliant!

Always amazed how you are a shape shifter, Atakti!
You always renew your poems and come up with something else, this one is a sharp observation!

Where I come from we don't beat around the bush with fancy words and philosophical mumbo-jumbo... we just buy the guy a beer at the pub for being a "top bloke."
Great tribute to a top bloke, Atakti!!!
