Rita: pt.2

She was not only my lover,
but also my best friend
We shared a bond that seemed like it would last forever
Like we were meant to be

After a few months, though
I started to get tired of her always being around
Following me everywhere I would go
So I told her I had to have a break from her

She left to stay with her family for a week
And I regretted the decision every day
Although I felt it would be best for us
To spend a little less time together

But I soon discovered
She had betrayed my trust
Slept with one of my friends
The first chance she got

When she returned
I told her to get her shit out of my house
Among other things
Words exchanged I still regret to this day

She took with her a part of me
That I feel I will never be able to replace
I gave her my heart
And she left me unable to trust again
