see you there
what if I was so stupidly brave
that I decided to tell you
I was still in love with you,
that no matter how cruel your hands
or dark your moods, harsh your words
and obsessive your need,
destructive your way
of loving me
what if I said
I still dream of you nearly every night,
after years of fending off your love
and meticulously building a shelter
out of reasons
I must keep you out
what if I told you I can't, won't love
any other man no matter how
alone I am
because it is you
who invades my dreams,
consistently and without cease
well now you know
because I was stupidly brave
now I have to build my shelter
all over again
that I decided to tell you
I was still in love with you,
that no matter how cruel your hands
or dark your moods, harsh your words
and obsessive your need,
destructive your way
of loving me
what if I said
I still dream of you nearly every night,
after years of fending off your love
and meticulously building a shelter
out of reasons
I must keep you out
what if I told you I can't, won't love
any other man no matter how
alone I am
because it is you
who invades my dreams,
consistently and without cease
well now you know
because I was stupidly brave
now I have to build my shelter
all over again
