The Conversation
The restaurant was small
cozy, comfortable.
He was alone
looking a little nervous
unsure,
folding and unfolding the napkin
he was offered a drink
but decided to wait
for his guest
Moments later she arrived
saw him as soon as
she stepped through
the door, she approached
smiling holding out her hands
he rose standing by the table
they embrace
Being a gentleman
he pulls out her chair
she slides into it so gracefully
he rushes back to his side
to be across from her
You could tell they had not seen
each other for a while
yet they were so comfortable
they chatted, laughed
ordered their dessert
and drinks
They spoke quietly to one another
as if they were the only ones
in the room, their eyes
only for each other
only leaving when their
waitress stopped by
to see if they needed
anything
They laughed easily
occasionally their
hands would touch
or rest one on top of the
other, they smiled often
caught up on where their
lives had been
what was going on now
what lay ahead
His gaze shifted ever so
slightly, he smiled more
shyly, his cheeks getting
warm and flushed
by the drink or something
else perhaps
He leaned in slightly
his blue eyes gazing into
hers...looking so deeply at her
his lips parted slightly he
suddenly asked,
Can you tell me, WHY?
Why what? she inquired
Why am I so dangerously
attracted to you?
