You
sitting on my bed.
been pacing the room...
waiting for the clock.
heart racing,
wondering what to do ...
it is exactly time,
I wait a few seconds...
I have your number, right here on the screen.
my thumb is resting on the send button.
close my eyes tight
and press the gleaming bright icon.
...feel the texture.
the ringing penetrates my ears.
once, twice,
...I take a breath,
I calm down...
a third time.
...I won't have to face you yet...
a click.
I hear walking...
...feels like I'm in the middle of a fever.
my hands are shaking, I'm sweating.
a second later, an unfamiliar voice fills my head.
"Hello?"
I try to speak, I move my mouth,
but nothing comes out.
"Hello?"
again, your voice piercing through my ears...
I try again..
I was too quiet,
you didn't hear...
"hello?"
you put emphasis on the "o"
I took a second to smile...
..a sudden movement.
Before I even noticed.
...face bright red, I hung up.
I stared at the small screen...
...your number blinked twice,
the few seconds we spent underneath..
the screen went black.
I curled up on my bed,
phone up against my chest.
in an instant,
I made a world
for you and me.
a fantasy...
and you gave that to me.
been pacing the room...
waiting for the clock.
heart racing,
wondering what to do ...
