Before the storm

clouds rolled in
trying desperately to
fight out the blue and
cover the hot sun
swirling
obscuring
the crepuscular light

the sky turning
varying hues of
soft orange
attempting to fill the
endless skies
etched with light

in each passing moment the clouds
were becoming more formidable
dark as smoke
lying on the edge of the
horizon, a billowing rising
blemish across the sky..

the sun round and smoldering
its light pouring through
the empty spaces
streaming in every direction
streaked with misfortune
