Whoever says
'love will set you free'
has never been held prisoner
in its iron grasp.


They've never given themselves over
willingly to the fate of
being crushed and suffocated
in its unrelenting clutches.


They've never languished under
its beautiful weight
or had their strength drained
with their will to resist.


I suppose it could be said
that there's freedom in submission
and if that's to believed
then love will set you free.
