Intruders
And they came
As I peeped
On dancing toes afraid to tread,
In great hoards
With a multitude of flailing arms and
Things mightier than swords clutched in them.
To my door
To rap, to rap
To rap the frenzied unyielding rap
Their shadows dancing beneath my gate
Hissing, Spitting
Writhing over each other
For a glance
For the chance to be first
To taste the skin between the fangs
And inject their poison
Dressed to kill in their sleekest skin
With greed in their eyes and
Deception on their breath.
Waving their souls clipped in gold
In front of my sight
To allure, to hypnotize
To numb my reason
With trepidation and
Shaking hands wet with sweat
I slowly,
Nimbly,
Wisely,
Retreat.
