Fireflies

Remember the prime of our upbringing?
Sprawled across the greenest of lawn
Catching fireflies with our bare hands
Watching in awe as they'd light up our palms

They'd buzz and we'd buzz with them
They slept by our beds in jars
It was a representation of our friendship
A promise we'd never drift apart

And if such a day was to happen
And forever had faded to grey
We'd uncap our collection of fireflies
And watch as they all flew away
