I want to know what it's like to die

I want to know what it's like to die
Is it nothing but darkness, or forever in heaven?
A place where my dreams collide with reality?
Or forever on this Earth?

I want to know what it's like to die
Would I feel my body rotting away?
Would I lose all I feel for the ones I love?
Would I lose myself 6 feet under?

I want to know what it's like to die
Is it like falling but never hitting the ground?
Or like a bird at flight?
Like standing in fire but never burning?
Or like never ending horror and pain?

I want to know what it's like to die
If it will be simply, painless and over quick
Like closing my eyes and falling asleep
And rest assured my days had ended

I want to know what it's like to die
Because this life's too hard for me
I'll try my best, fight my hardest
But I'm still left wondering just what it's like
