A Thanksgiving Tale
Snowfall gently blankets the wooded ground
Muffles all but the smallest sounds.
Something lurks inside the shadows
Of nightfall as it covers the town.
Families gather in great numbers to feast
Saying silent prayers to the God of the least,
Just to ward off the foul evil
And the perpetual beast.
Bright candles alit to enhance the gloom
Flickering flames to chase away the doom
A roar rips out through the night
A monster waits under the moon.
Children play with food in their misery
Parent's lashing tongues in their need
To prove what is right
When the beast bursts in to eat.
Muffles all but the smallest sounds.
Something lurks inside the shadows
Of nightfall as it covers the town.
Families gather in great numbers to feast
Saying silent prayers to the God of the least,
Just to ward off the foul evil
And the perpetual beast.
Bright candles alit to enhance the gloom
Flickering flames to chase away the doom
A roar rips out through the night
A monster waits under the moon.
Children play with food in their misery
Parent's lashing tongues in their need
To prove what is right
When the beast bursts in to eat.
