I Gave You That Gun

A big lie
Maybe next time I'll figure out the truth early enough to cuss you out in some fierce little rhyme
Rewind
To careless breaths
Eye contact
I'll meet you out back
In your car
Fogging your windows
The music sub-par
Like a diluted lemonade
Take the ice away
Set down the tray like you're serving me some temptations in the dark
Your lips left their mark on this heart
Well shattered past all hopes of a restart
Be smart
That gun you're aiming is loaded
Our distance isn't far enough apart
Eyes glued
Staring at you
Gun waving
Your mouth blaming
Me
Like my death is the only thing able to set you free
Cue the music because I need to sing in the last few moments I survive
Kept alive by your feverish eyes
Roaming across my body
Your ego must have shot me
Red stains stretch like a disease I cannot flee
You broke me at the knees
Knowing how badly I could not leave the mess I made
Chancing my soul for keeps
As you stomp on me with your shackled feet
We're only left with memory

Remember me?
