What kind of child would need to know that?

A child who is
Damaged
Broken
Shattered
And fading away.

A child whose life is over taken by
Sexual abuse
Depression
And Self-Harm.

I am that child.
The child who has to learn how to survive.
The child who was damaged, broken, shattered, and fading away.
The child who was sexually abused, depressed, and self-harmed.

Death was always after me.
The cops were always chasing me.
The psych wards always got me.

People when they here my story,
and hear everything I overcame,
They always ask how?

The phoenix within me taught me to survive.
A phoenix when dead rises from the ashes,
and that's what happened.
I rose from the ashes,
and learned how to survive.

I am alive today
because of
The Phoenix.
