ONE SILIENT CRY
What God has joined together let no man put asunder”
She’s confused constantly bruised and abused
In the name of marriage; which makes me wonder?
If it’s worth it, the trauma she goes through makes me ponder
Her youthful heart endures the pains; but her body ageing faster
Than her age reveals she’s emotionally & physically hurt
Ignorantly paying the price for living with a man who doesn’t know her worth
She’s no doubt a rare gem but her husband treats her like dirt
Consoling herself with these words ‘‘if it doesn’t kill her it will only make her stronger
The last assault left her with a black eye now I doubt if she can stand it much longer
Who’s to be blamed she was innocent and so tender
Betrothed to a man she never loved and was a total stranger
Believing couples living under the same roof grow to love each other
Everyone knew she was the ‘‘beauty and he was just a beast
Her parents were lured and deceived by greed just to say the least
Coz her bride price was measured and paid in gold
Her happiness was traded “like a commodity she was sold
Now she’s stuck in her worse nightmare; living in despair
When the night is cold, she needs her man to hold; he’s not always there
Facing endless troubles and drama every day and night
Coz he treats her with disdain with little respect for her rights
He returns home late and when she complains it often ended up in fights
Everything she does to please him, he doesn’t seem to appreciate
Instead of showing her love for all the care what she gets in return is hate
She feels caged in his home surrounded by sorrows; tied down by ill fate
She’s faithful coz she swore never to betray his trust but her soul searched for escape
In her darkest hour of misery she thought of a plan in her mind to break free
One morning her body was seen with a rope tied round her neck hanging from a tree
The suicide note she left behind reads “freedom at last” Let God alone judge my soul.
