her gentle exit
The bullet entered innocent
Disappearing like a child jumping into a ball pit
Every one of them, red
Spilling away from the entry point
I watched her fall
Like a baby bird from a nest
The shell, still attached to her fragile head
She layed on that bed
For what felt like years
That barrel rang hot and embodied my fear
The smoke danced like the leaves of August
Admitting its crime, so honest while the dawn was nearly upon us
Of the entire world and all its inhabitants
Only us house pets witnessed this...poetic silence.
