The Flow of Writing

The flow of writing is like a stream following the bends of the
land. It is where nature is still prevailing and the grown out
trees still hang over the moving water, while moss has grown
thick on the exposed rocks. It is like the leaves on a deciduous
tree- words falling every so often but then a gust of wind sweeps
them up again into a new pattern; a new story. The tree regrows
and more words are added to the vast collection of ideas,
stories, legends and novels throughout the land. Writing is
letting your soul free from the judgemental voices of the world,
of your mind. Writing does not discriminate between inherently
‘good’ thoughts, nor ‘bad’ ones; it accepts all that passes
through you and onto the paper. It begins to feel like a rhythm
and movement from the real world distracts from the synchronised
scratching of the mind onto paper. We can let our boundaries
widen as we open up to the joy of writing and our emotional mask
slips as we reveal our inner truths. No one can critique us here.
No one can judge us here. All it is a flowing pattern of symbols
that we humans have learnt to distinguish between and form sounds
from. We have this ability to decode every little word, but
sometimes it is nice to just stop. To just write. To let your
hand become one with the pen, to flow over the paper like water.

It is our soul that is written between these lines. These
scribbling’s may just be a perception of our thoughts but it is
what matters most in this life. It is expression. It is freedom
from thought. It is a place where soul and body can become one,
even if just for a moment before we are interrupted by stimuli. A
movement around us. A familiar sound. It distracts us from the
patterns of our hand gliding over paper and gets us back into
reality and back to now.

It can be nice to have a break from the now and to just write.
Simply write anything and everything. It soothes the soul. It
cleans the mind. The chatter clarifies as we separate from our
thoughts. It’s psychological mumbo jumbo, but it works. It just
works. Writing releases the unknown from inside us. It sets us
free. It lets you be at peace, even if just for a moment.
