The Butterfly (Cinquain)

I'm still new to the cinquain form, but this doesn't seem like a piece in that tradition. The rules as I understand them are thus:

1. It must have five lines.

2. The first line (the title) should be only one word.

3. Line two must describe the title.

4. Line three must tell the action.

5. Line four must express the feeling.

6. Line five, like the first, must be a single word, one which recalls the title.

These are the general rules, not including stuff like syllable counts and so forth.

Butterfly cinquain: a nine-line syllabic form with the pattern two, four, six, eight, two, eight, six, four, two.

Ah I see! Well in that case this is a marvellous piece, and not the sacrilege I at first thought. :D

I may be wrong...I only seemed to find a description matching your rules for the original unabridged cinquain, there seems to be many more that have come about which only specify the use of syllables.

I usually don't like controlled poetry but this one is charming and slinky indeed! I absolutely love it.
