Solitary Beast
"Whosoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god."--Francis Bacon
Silence radiates from within these walls
Bouncing off the atmosphere
Back and forth
Passing through me; energizing me
Strengthening my body and mind
Leaving behind the loudness that others bring
Too many people and places
I get lost in the sea of faces losing myself
Losing my mind and my heart unable to dance to their beat
Solitary is where my heart is entranced; solitary is its music
So from the ocean I must depart; completely voluntary alone
To continue my existence I must within myself retreat
A world of my own; created by myself alone
Does this make me a God?
I should hope not; A God I never want to be
Leave that up to The Most High Himself; Let me be
I’d rather be a wild beast; let the talk of holiness cease
And I’ll delight myself in my solitude
Silence radiates from within these walls
Bouncing off the atmosphere
Back and forth
Passing through me; energizing me
Strengthening my body and mind
Leaving behind the loudness that others bring
Too many people and places
I get lost in the sea of faces losing myself
Losing my mind and my heart unable to dance to their beat
Solitary is where my heart is entranced; solitary is its music
So from the ocean I must depart; completely voluntary alone
To continue my existence I must within myself retreat
A world of my own; created by myself alone
Does this make me a God?
I should hope not; A God I never want to be
Leave that up to The Most High Himself; Let me be
I’d rather be a wild beast; let the talk of holiness cease
And I’ll delight myself in my solitude
