The Letter From A Child
Written from a child's point of view to a absent mother who abandoned her. This is real stuff, venting from a child who is very close to me.
You can never know what a letter can mean,
Till you've been where I've been, and seen what I've seen.
Confined to a world where I feel left so far behind ,
Where nobody sees you and it seems you don't care.
When I'm asleep, sometimes I wake up alarmed,
Thinking my family has all been harmed.
Just dreams, I realize as I come to my senses,
I look out the window and dream of white picket fences .
I check the mail, but there's none for me, as usual,
Not a note, not a letter, not even a heartfelt card.
When you don't write, it makes me feel abandoned and scarred .
So sit down today and write me a letter,
Not much to you, but it would sure make me feel better.
You can never know what a letter can mean,
Till you've been where I've been and seen what I've seen.
You can never know what a letter can mean,
