Why do you come to me in my sleep
when I can’t protect me
when my guard is down
why do you come around

why do you come to me in my dreams
when I am trying to sleep
when I am vulnerable and weak
and I can’t protect me

why do you come to me in the dark
when I cannot protect my heart
reopening wounds from which I bleed
when I can’t protect me

why do you come to me at the wrong time
when I am trying to live my life
when I am really trying to smile
and I can’t protect me all the while

why do you drag the tears from my eyes
while driving spikes into my mind
pulling razors across my skin
where I can’t protect me again

why do you have to attack me so
when I just want to let things go
when to me it;s plain to see
that I can’t protect me…
