From a Dream of Love and Longing
Baby, you know I didn't want this
it was obvious
the time would come
I never expected
it'd be then
Our wings were clipped
so you couldn't fly up to me
and I couldn't fly down to you
if I jumped I'd fall
They lifted me too far up
so close to God, but
too far from you
You may not know
but I never lost sight of you
I hated myself
because I had put that desolate hue
on your scintillating features,
that frown upon your perfect lips
I hated myself
because I had painted those bitter tears
that ran down from your chocolate lava ocean-eyes
those horrid scars
upon your sun-kissed skin
You know I didn't want to
and I swear to whatever God there is
to make it up to you
even if it means falling from the sky
and sacrificing eternity
clipped wings and two universe's distance
won't stop me
from coming back to you
it was obvious
the time would come
I never expected
it'd be then
Our wings were clipped
so you couldn't fly up to me
and I couldn't fly down to you
if I jumped I'd fall
They lifted me too far up
so close to God, but
too far from you
You may not know
but I never lost sight of you
I hated myself
because I had put that desolate hue
on your scintillating features,
that frown upon your perfect lips
I hated myself
because I had painted those bitter tears
that ran down from your chocolate lava ocean-eyes
those horrid scars
upon your sun-kissed skin
You know I didn't want to
and I swear to whatever God there is
to make it up to you
even if it means falling from the sky
and sacrificing eternity
clipped wings and two universe's distance
won't stop me
from coming back to you
