In the Midst

In the Midst

Caught in the middle,

Unsure of which path to choose.

Wherever I go, chaos

Is not far behind.

When will I learn my purpose in life?

When will I see where the truth lies?

Allusions, lies, and betrayals

Surround me.

Trust no one but myself.

Hurting just to comfort the pain.

When will I learn my purpose in life?

When will I see where the truth lies?

Darkness in my shroud,

And disguise.

No one knows who I really am.

For protection I use my smile.

To disarm, I use my lips.

When will I learn my purpose in life?

When will I see where the truth lies?

Pleasure quiets the pain but

My body is a constant reminder.

No one notices a girl with everything.

Happiness adds to the confusion,

And I am not sure what’s real.

When will I learn my purpose in life?

When will I see where the truth lies?

No presence beside me to guide me.

Doubting beliefs that I never thought were true.

Hoping and waiting for one answer to come.

When will I learn my purpose in life?

When will I see where the truth lies?

Never to come.

Never to know.
