darlin'

you're
a dangerous concoction
of percocet and maimed honesty,
fringing the nerve endings
I keep knotted on a lonely
blood clot I wish would bleed out

I needed you last night
but I was dense fiber glass
swollen by cracks threatening
to shatter in your eye lids
so you would see the me
I spit on

your hands are beautiful to me
contrary to the horror novels
you've scribed in the desperate situations
I don't fully understand,
they probe the recesses of my pelvic bone
in dreams confessed only to the frequency
of my cello

it's true
the apprehension fell from my lips
like an enraptured lovers condecend
and don't you listen to any of these pathetic words
'cause I'm too lost in oblivion
to cradle sentiment on Galvestons shores
like we planned

the sun is fading from my peripheral
so I'll drink in all the wrong places
watching the prolonged
pitter
patter
you've got me captured in
and I feel so completely tangled
in my own terrified excuses
because I would die for you
too
darlin'
