I Lay Awake At Night

...Mirrored...
Hands come together...In clapped prayer
Eyes close slowly, to witness, spotted after images
As we prepare
To take a visit...Somewhere, that's existing
...WHERE?
They're always listening
Aware, of what we're presenting
What are our, real intentions...What we're really getting...What we need & what needs more attention
It's ALL there! Every single last detail
Nothing's missing...We can't fail!
As long as we believe in, the beginning...Being never-ending
And some people's Hell, is where they choose to dwell, imprisoned
While the Heaven within them, slowly diminishes
Convincing them, to just keep on living
As if...This...Was it
The pinnacle of existence, or, some other bullshit
When it isn't
There's...MORE...!
There...are...gateway doors, to infinite wisdom
Locked by an intricate system
Where the keys all stay hidden from those
Non-believing souls, content...With, going around in circles
Spinning their wheels
Burning rubber, on hot ass-fault during summer
Stuck, in a sticky kind of way

While I'm up & listening,

"I lay awake at night..."
*(Paralyzed by...The day, I just left behind)*
"But that's alright...Jesus will fix it...After-while..."
Staring out into the dark
Thinking about, how God so loved the world
This world...Of sinners
Remembering the words of the slick, withering preacher
Speak in song, as a reminder to all
Just before he called, for an unexpected offering
But I left my wallet in the car
Not expecting such, at a home-going funeral
I found this unusual and at the same time precious
While one rests in peace
The rest of us, pray, restless
Unsure, what we're investing in...And since it ain't evident
I give...What I can afford
I place my two cents, on the eyes of the corpse
Just before, they close the casket
How many fold will I be blessed, after this transaction?
...I don't know
But I'd be happy, if it shines like gold, though
AMEN-
