Buried Dreams
As soon as
she realized that
physical compatibility
will never make up for
an emotional flatline
she buried
her dreams
cleared out
the dusky coffin of her late desire
sanguinely spread her wings
finally pervaded by light.

At some point enough is enough and she
must spread her wings and fly.
Beautiful capture of despair turned to
resolution and action.

Thank you, J.! I always appreciate your insightful and compassionate view on human tragedy! No matter how long you rot in a cold and unloving environment, it hopefully might not be totally destructive as long as you are finally able to get out into the light again to save yourself!

I'm humbled by your kind and welcome words, Mourganna. And in this special case it's so joyful for me to see you compare the outcoming to a phoenix rising from the flame. Thank you so much!

I always wonder how much poetry is purely fiction & which poems come from experience the poet has survived, & needs to present in the final resting place of a poem. either way, this is a testament to your skill...

I can tell you that none of my poems is pure fiction although this one holds the experience of a dear friend. It is so good to have a final resting place for experience and the outbursts of a brimful heart and soul. Thank you, my dear JF for your kind words. I truly treasure them ...
