platonically speaking
An acidic displeasure coarses through my veins
An uneasiness I usually keep well hidden
For I knew secretly this was so much more to me
Than the quick exchange of DNA as our fingertips entwined
For she will never know the words that I have spoke into the darkness
her inspiration flowing through me
onto scrap papers
and those words that dug much deeper
will not fade
will not be forgotten
or thrown away
And how could I forget
Being an inch away from a face more imperative
than that of angels and saviors
a soul with understanding
insight
and interest in the complex dynamics of the heart
Each tick tock sputter yearning to be beating where you might here it calling
But if I am only meant to put a smile on your lips
I will gladly do so with valor
Being the tower
that protects my princess
An uneasiness I usually keep well hidden
For I knew secretly this was so much more to me
Than the quick exchange of DNA as our fingertips entwined
For she will never know the words that I have spoke into the darkness
her inspiration flowing through me
onto scrap papers
and those words that dug much deeper
will not fade
will not be forgotten
or thrown away
And how could I forget
Being an inch away from a face more imperative
than that of angels and saviors
a soul with understanding
insight
and interest in the complex dynamics of the heart
Each tick tock sputter yearning to be beating where you might here it calling
But if I am only meant to put a smile on your lips
I will gladly do so with valor
Being the tower
that protects my princess
