Image for the poem Over Time

Over Time

As I look back, over time
I see a path that led me to a state
Finding closure in the shelter my fear has disclosed
I find that my walk and talk is a manacan's favorite pose
Love has left me cold, shaken alive from the hands
That pulled my soul from its comforted corridor
Cringing at the thoughts my paranoia demands

Overtime is my official word
The word that decribes my habitual identity
Running through, cutting into my insecurity
Mirrors only betray what pains me to see
The person turned into a monster I now claim to be
So with this new wave I agree
To sign this pact, never to be freed

As I lay looking at the sun
I look at my master, dare to run
I know that my master is only I
For it is me that drains me dry
However the blood that runs down deep
It keeps me comfort
Gives me peace

When I cut into my skin I now know
The numbness is this perpetual glow
I love that it burns then steams like gold
I love that I could fall but float instead
I love how I am due to myself pain
I love if I happen to insure the blood run like rain

Over time this is what I have become
The girl as my reflection ensures no place she is from
With all this said and all this done
The rest of sea and I will run...
