Butterfly On Your Wall
(something I wrote for someone)
Your heart whispers into the dark
Speaking the pain inside your soul
You're so broken and torn apart
And don't know which way to go
Tear stains mark the path you've trailed
But provide no sense of direction
Confusion as to why your love has failed
Mind filled with so many questions
And I believe I could give the comfort right
That you're searching for tonight
Instead I'm just a butterfly on your wall
Feeling your heartache as you spill it all
Catching your tears as they flow into the air
Longing to tell you that somebody cares
But I'm just a butterfly on your wall
Listening to your heart's call
This loneliness I know well
And it hurts like hell
Familiar with how you're feeling
Sound waves of your sorrow draw me in
Misery echoes through my entire being
While painful vibrations remind of how broken I've been
I can sing this song in perfect key
As if I'd penned the lyrics myself
United in the way we bleed
Yet still I remain stealth
And you'll never know
That you're not alone
Because I'm just a butterfly on your wall
Feeling your heartache as you spill it all
Catching your tears as they flow into the air
Longing to tell you that somebody cares
But I'm just a butterfly on your wall
Listening to your heart's call
This loneliness I know well
And it hurts like hell
I wonder if I try
To make my way to where you sleep
Maybe there's a way that I
Can give you a piece of me
Perhaps the dust from my wings
Can take me higher than I've ever flown
Allowing me to heal things
In ways I've never known
I'd flutter by your crying eyes
And brush them softly as I pass
Hoping my touch would help you realize
That this emptiness inside your heart won't last
The strength to know you'll be okay again
Will help you learn to get up when you fall
And contently I will rest
As the butterfly upon your wall
Your heart whispers into the dark
Speaking the pain inside your soul
You're so broken and torn apart
And don't know which way to go
Tear stains mark the path you've trailed
But provide no sense of direction
Confusion as to why your love has failed
Mind filled with so many questions
And I believe I could give the comfort right
That you're searching for tonight

And contently I will rest
As the butterfly upon your wall
