Resistance
Why do we struggle
against that yearning to walk
naked down the beach,
to gaze longingly
into our lover’s green eyes,
to break free at last,
running until exhausted,
collapsing with joy
onto the warm, wet sand?
Resistance is futile
against that yearning to walk
naked down the beach,
to gaze longingly
into our lover’s green eyes,
to break free at last,
running until exhausted,
collapsing with joy
onto the warm, wet sand?
Resistance is futile

Perhaps you see the pain in the green eyes. Hard to get past seeing pain that cannot be hidden thru eyes that reflect a broken soul, that is fighting to be mended. No matter how beautiful the green eyes are.

When I wrote this poem, I didn't know anyone with green yes. Now, everyone seems to have them. Prophetic perhaps? The poem asks why can't we get past the things that hold us back? Just go with the flow.

Re: Resistance
Precise, Powerful Meaning!
Though passion---love--lust--pulls two souls together with a powerful, undeniable force, the fear of pain's past creates the hesitation that pulls them apart.......
As your piece indicates, 'resistance is futile'...yet when we suffer the intense pain of past loss, we still attempt to protect ourselves.
Inked With Insight! <3
(You, my friend, and the Borg, understood exactly how it is(LOL!) [sorry, i couldn't resist. ;) )

I knew I'd flush out the Trekkie with the Resistance is futile line. Yes, breaking free from the past, from past pain, letting go of convention, and just being, is the thrust of the poem.

Maybe because it's not a nude beach? Or perhaps some folks have extra stomachs and gravity has taken it's revenge? lol....Sorry, that door was wide open, couldn't help but sashay in.
I love this! Resistance is indeed futile! Xo

Ha! This poem was written as a metaphor, so I never really thought about the real world implications, that you so humorously pointed out. Glad you liked it, though.

Sometimes temptations are meant to be given into. Love the feel of this poem.

Yes. Drop of the pretense, take off your clothes and go for it. If there's anyone else on the beach, and they haven't seen a naked person, it's about time they did.

You haven't lived until you strip down
on a crowded nude beach and wonder why no
one is looking at you. :)

So give up resistance! Do what you'd LOVE to do! Take what you can and, in return, give everything you have. Don't resist the beauty of life. Your poem is so wonderful, tiene mucha alma, querido amigo.
