Thieved
Oppression keeps aggressing
you never knew of innocence
guilt , shame, disgust
humiliation leaves a wake of devastation
pointing its finger in your direction
Tell yourself its not your fault
but you don't believe
can’t remember where you left yourself
mistrust and numbness
breed a guarded heart
The seconds, minutes, hours pass
where has time’s hands placed them?
they've taken your breath
squeezed and gagged your voice
thieving moments that never live again
Time doesn’t care
pays no regard to emotion or life
carries on beneath layered scars
impossible to see
until trust builds a bridge
you never knew of innocence
guilt , shame, disgust
humiliation leaves a wake of devastation
pointing its finger in your direction
Tell yourself its not your fault
but you don't believe
can’t remember where you left yourself
mistrust and numbness
breed a guarded heart
The seconds, minutes, hours pass
where has time’s hands placed them?
they've taken your breath
squeezed and gagged your voice
thieving moments that never live again
Time doesn’t care
pays no regard to emotion or life
carries on beneath layered scars
impossible to see
until trust builds a bridge

Re: Thieved
Holy cow, this a face not often seen by you in regards to your writing. I like it though. It's stern, hard, but also even tempered. Hey ken, missed your stuff. I lied, I love this. I've seen it, felt it. So calloused and bitter. Amazing observation captured perfectly.

Hey, I was just digging into your words.
Thanks. I haven't been in here much as I am playing in my tree house of life.
Sometimes a bit of observation stirs the soul.

Ugh, wow! After reading this again with understanding, I love that it made me feel, but not what it made me feel until the last line. You captured what you are writing about perfectly and as always, intuitively. You have such a vast knowledge of emotions. So wonderfully penned, Ken. You never disappoint.

Yeah, a harsh reality for many and no child ever deserves such wickedness.
Thank you for your steady, intuitive perception of the visual I attempt to paint. Hugs and hugs, Rachel :)

And how that bridge needs to be reinforced for it not to crumble.

Yes, Magdalena, bridges of trust are not easy to build and require honesty and acceptance.
Thank you for your steadfast sweetness and genuine sharing.

Thanks, Elle. I was away 4+ months, living life and loving the adventure. I appreciate your sweetness.
