Quicksand (All I Ever Wanted)
All I ever wanted was to be freed from my cell,
But it turned out to be locked in a bigger cage.
All I ever wanted was a ticket out of hell,
But there's no escaping a mother's rage.
It's like drowning in quicksand:
The more I fight, the further I sink in.
It's like dying by your own hand:
The more it frustrates you, the quicker it begins.
All I ever wanted was out of the sand trap,
But the hand that pulled me out had its claws unsheathed.
All I ever wanted was to wake from my nap,
But it hurts to know you're not really asleep.
It's like drowning in quicksand:
All the wrong things seep into my lungs.
It's like taking the place of the cow, as it's up for the brand:
All the pain goes back to the sender, yet it still seems so wrong.
All I ever wanted was to get out of the quicksand,
I've been drowning in the air, suffocated by life,
All I ever wanted was to be my own man,
I've been depending on you and all of your lies!
But it turned out to be locked in a bigger cage.
All I ever wanted was a ticket out of hell,
But there's no escaping a mother's rage.
It's like drowning in quicksand:
The more I fight, the further I sink in.
