Image for the poem Enough

Enough

The past comes at me:

An echo in a stairwell

A child’s wayward yo-yo

Rolling coins at the laundromat

Pinwheel shadows of a passing car

I can’t get back one second of our love

I’ve grabbed at the air for ropes

Stayed under water too long

Taken pills not subscribed me

Closed my eyes till colors burst from broken vessels

But, O for those moments we had

Wouldn’t you agree

One was too much

A thousand will never be enough?
