The Orchard Wisp

At home in the gardens and orchards
A being of such giving nature
I can see her drift like a wisp
Oh, Ponoma, I long for you nurture
All I ask of you is one apple
To cure my hunger
All it takes is a slip of the wrist
Your skin is smooth and supple

Won’t you take me in your arms?
Keep me in the woodland
So I can love you
And keep your gentle graces from harm
Oh, Ponoma, can you not see
That more than a man am I
I will fulfill you deepest needs
Among these fruitful trees?

A rejection?
But why?
A wood nymph
Such as you
Needs a lover
Such as me
What a cruel mistress!

You at last take me to your heart
Hold me close to you
Until the season has faded
And the sun lowers to bring the dark
Oh, Ponoma, among the trees
The air smelling of ripe olives
The taste of wine on your lips
My sweet nymph will be the death of me
