Willful Ignorance

So many believe everything the media reads us
Eat it up, memorize it like their favorite song
Believe everything they here and ignore anything that goes against
Then they wonder why the economy is failing
Wonder how the government is continuing to pull the wool of their eyes
Neglecting to consider their own stupidity

Pupularity is the only thing my generation is concerned with
Judged by materialistic things and icons who preach ignorance
Never thinking of anything more than how they appear
Building a foundation of failure and nothing more
Creating a future darker than any other generation yet

It's of great shame to me that I acknowledge the failure of my era
The loss of intelligence and independent thinking
The definition of tragedy can be seen through the eyes of grandparents
As they view everything they stood for be demolished
With a heavy heart I resign myself to a future of willful ignorance
