THE LAST POST
They laid the poppy wreaths
and the bugles played the last post
old and young with memories in the heart
each remembering the wars and lost friends
it has been many years shedding our tears
The parade marching past for the salute
the memories for family and friends
will these wars ever end
still it goes on
troops are still killed or injured
will we learn the lesson
and stop the wars
I fear they will never end

I remember poppy day as far back as childhood and always known its reason. Well written and expressed Glen.

It would be great if they would end. As an American I know all too well they won't. Cause there is always another something we have to defend. Wishful write and well done! :)

Living in South Africa, I've never truly experienced the consequences of war. Our soldiers seem to be getting paid to wait for threats,yet nohing happens. And I wish it was like that worldwide. When I watch the news and see what's happening in other parts of the world,it makes me weep.
