Fall from Grace
The voice whispered:
Fly
and as if by magic
my wings arrived
They grew quickly
from each ankle
silver glinting
in the fading light
They came without
instructions
there was no-one
to show me the way
and I knew already
experience
always has its price
But sometimes
miracles demand courage
Stars were beckoning
through the open window
and the itch of an adventure
coursed through my veins
Three days later
the coma broke
They had moved me
from the emergency room
to intensive care
and I hadn't felt a thing
Now some parts of my body
would never feel again
So please
don't try this at home
just remember to keep
one foot firmly
on the ground
Fly
and as if by magic
my wings arrived
They grew quickly
from each ankle
silver glinting
in the fading light
They came without
instructions
there was no-one
to show me the way
and I knew already
experience
always has its price
But sometimes
miracles demand courage
Stars were beckoning
through the open window
and the itch of an adventure
coursed through my veins
Three days later
the coma broke
They had moved me
from the emergency room
to intensive care
and I hadn't felt a thing
Now some parts of my body
would never feel again
So please
don't try this at home
just remember to keep
one foot firmly
on the ground
