She twirls her chain
stares at me without looking at me at all
blankly contemplating the words that i am saying 
silently contemplating adulthood while with every word losing her innocence 
a conversation no girl wants to hear but most women have 
a conversation that changes experiences and outlooks
a conversation that takes you from full to empty...
full of life, full of joy, full of...

a conversation that when over so is her innocence
a conversation that when over so are her problems
a conversation that when over her problems begin 
because her world that was once warm has turned cold 
as she remembers this conversation she awakens and remembers her choice 
a choice that has left her empty and cold 
but a choice that has also left behind childish choices 
and a choice that has forced responsibilty 
a choice...
a choice that shouldn't have to made but is made all to often 
a choice that can often be avoided when responsibilty comes before rather than after
when we put ourselves before our lovers
when we act rather than react
a choice to avoid the cold to avoid the emptiness
