Belonging
She wanders away aimlessly
She doesn't know where she's going
She has no owner to claim her
And no place of belonging.
She longs for company
That's what she's trying to find
But it never lasts
People keep leaving her behind.
One day I saw her
She was passing through
Her face was shadowed and sad
But I knew what I must do.
She looked up at me
Eyes a snowy grey
She lowered her head in shame
Did she think I would turn her away?
I took her hands and kissed her lips
Where once was 'her' would now be 'we'
She finally found somewhere to belong
For she belonged with me.
She doesn't know where she's going
She has no owner to claim her
And no place of belonging.
She longs for company
That's what she's trying to find
But it never lasts
People keep leaving her behind.
One day I saw her
She was passing through
Her face was shadowed and sad
But I knew what I must do.
She looked up at me
Eyes a snowy grey
She lowered her head in shame
Did she think I would turn her away?
I took her hands and kissed her lips
Where once was 'her' would now be 'we'
She finally found somewhere to belong
For she belonged with me.
