Chaining the Wolf

When I was young I was so innocent
Just a toy to be admired
I have slept in the city of the gods
From a giant queen I was sired
And I had grown to be proud and strong
A beast to those divine
To be a prisoner in the city of gods
But I will have what is mine

My coat is thick and I’m sharp of fang
Locked in a cage and fed on war
Tyr only showed me compassion
Not even He ad know what’s in store
The wolf I am, feared I should be
But then Thunder tried to chain me
With a thrust, I easily broke the links
No God will ever chain me

Who am I?
Fenrir, the wolf
I will never bow
What am I?
The great wolf
My time is now

Again He came with a thicker chain
And placed it around my neck
I looked Allfather in his one eye
With my strength, chain hit the deck
You cannot chain a beast such as I
I am the mighty one
Howl in the night as the lord of the hunt
I am the mighty one

Brought before me was a magic chain
Gleipnir, a ribbon thin and soft
The gods seemed relieved and smiled
“Fenrir, can you shake this off?”
A trap I smelled, a pact was made
“Place your hand in my jaws.”
With all my power I gave a mighty pull
And left all the Gods in all

Tyr had placed his hand inside
My mouth, I gave a scoff
And then in shame I could not break
And bit his hand clean off

Chained to Gioll, the great stone
Shame taken root in my bones
But one day the end will come
And Odin shall pay for what was done
