One hour till Sunrise

------------
One hour till sunrise,
And I'm walking around the dirty streets,
Looking for another place to fill my cup,
I've been drinking, again,
I've been drinking, but it's not enough,
I've been drinking again and there's no sight of the weekend,
There's one hour till sunrise.
There's a smell on the street,
The stench of stale meat, being carved roughly from the side of a van.
For five pounds a pop.
There is little choice.
I surrender to my appetite,
There's one hour till sunrise.
Nowhere to go, but my thirst forces me on,
Searching for oblivion in a darkened room,
Roaming the streets of danger, passed the crack-eyed nightdwellers and vendors of sin.
A man approaches and talks of Portugese ladies,
I'm sinfully tempted, but I know better than that,
No time to get stuck in a man-eating trap,
There's one hour till sunrise.
There's crack, coke and madman on offer, all around,
An empty wrap of paper, placed roughly in my hand,
I find an entrance, a side door, a room without light,
I've got what I wanted, dark in this night,
And there in my stupor, alone with my thoughts,
I'm filled with regret and a sense of remorse,
But life is for living, not waiting and falling in line,
My cup is flowing over,
And there's one hour till sunrise!
