A Lullaby for the Dreamless
Sleep my darling.
Rest your eyes.
I will sing you a lullaby.
A sonnet of my own design.
Shhh, my dear and close your eyes.
The Man in the Moon is leaning down to tuck you in bed.
And the stars are your nightlights and they dance over your head.
Shhh, my dear and sleep tonight.
I know the darkness is scary.
And the nightmares can be so real.
But I am hear to scare them away.
I will protect you from things that are different & strange.
Shhh, my darling I am right here.
And the Sandman is coming to say goodnight.
Do not ignore him!
Do not turn away!
He & I are here to help you, if we may.
I know you don't want to sleep.
Or it's easier to just not.
But the dreamless nights are lonely.
And trust me they are bothersome.
Come my dear & we will fly.
In our dreams.
When we fall asleep.
We'll meet under a willow tree.
And catch fireflies.
And sing songs with the stars.
And we'll talk to the moon.
And catch falling stars.
And tree's vines will lean down and give us secret charms.
And magical glass to protect us from harm.
So sleep my dreamless dear.
Sleep and let go.
There are adventures hiding inside of your heart.
That only your dreams can show.
Magical tales & secrets that only your heart of hearts can know.
And we will dream and dream and dream.
And when we wake the darkness will be gone, and the sun's light will open the curtains wide.
Good morning my dear, you made it through the night!
No monsters like I promised.
No bad dreams anymore.
Isn't it better to sleep & dream?
Instead of laying away alone, through a dreamless night?
So from now on you will sleep my darling.
You will rest your eyes.
As long as I sing you my lullaby.
Rest your eyes.
I will sing you a lullaby.
A sonnet of my own design.
