Solitude
When the night settles in and the moon takes over for the sun
The long night of solitude has only just begun
The chill of loneliness sneaks in and freezes solid all my
thoughts
Slipping away is all the peace of time, peace for which I
have fought
Tossing and turning in my own hell that takes over every
long night
Reminding me- again- of all the things that lurk in my
moonlight
Memories and regrets of all the things I couldn't finish
or even start
Thoughts of all that is left behind...my girls, my husband,
my heart
The walls seem to close in and squeeze out any happiness
from my soul
Doors slam around me and echo their prisoner's cries of the
time that they've stole
Then- morning comes and my window is alight with a new,
warm dawn
I awaken, shake off the terror of the night, and tell myself
the loneliness is gone
At least for the day....
Until once again night comes to stay
