Asked a girl for her number today
She said she has a boyfriend and that she was sorry
I didn't mind
Really I didn't care if I got her number or not
I really just wanted to take that first step
Push myself
Step past the fear
Smother my nerves
Snuff the sweat upon my brow
Speak up
And ask the question
Only this time I walked with confidence
With no sweat upon my brow
No quiver in my voice
No fear of rejection
Just curiosity of who I am becoming

Am I just growing up?

Maybe tomorrow I'll see another
Maybe I'll ask for her number
Maybe she'll say yes
Maybe not
But I'm changing
Oh yes, my friends
I'm changing
