I am a mom
single,
but not alone
I have my beautiful daughter
to thank
for bringing me to
this station in life
Mom
a new dimension of being
so much risk involved
in caring for something so
small, so precious, so breakable
those small hands that seek mine
those incredible eyes that
look to me for comfort,
strength, and stability
those arms that wrap around me
with so much love unquestioning
just given without cause
because I am her mom
and she knows
that no matter what,
when she reaches for my hand
mine is waiting to grasp hers
and when she looks towards me
my eyes are always shining in her
direction
and when she needs my
arms to hold her in any
circumstance, unquestioningly
they are open and ready to hold,
love, comfort and protect her...always
because without her,
I could not be the woman,
mom, I am today.
