Poetry Saved My Life
Heartbeat slow, pulse low, been flatlining off and on since 04’ but the lyrical never remain
The same an overwhelming burden of pain
26 letters flowing through my veins a sense of common sense set forth to write
From the soul with all my might mind takes flight master of the night
X-ray vision out of sight mood set just right emerged from the darkness with just a spark of light
See Poetry has saved my life time and time again
Way back when Langston told me that my black face was beautiful
Read in-between the lines of Maya Angelou so from the concrete a rose grew
This is food for the soul like chicken soup one flew over the coo-coo’s nest
Listened to Stokely and Huey stood tall and stuck out my chest
A lyrical assault and this page is my bullet proof vest
A rhythmical holocaust now nothing gold can stay like Robert Frost
The outer shell of a dead man outlined in chalk tainted pen talk walking strong like Martin
By any means necessary like Malcolm watching the presidential debate praying on the outcome came so far with even further to go with all that I can muster
Finding myself like Malik in Finding Forrester leaving absolutely nothing
So how do you like them apples like Good Laz Hunting now ain’t that something
When a good for nothing can publish five books from pain & suffering to become something
Reaching for the stars and walking on the moon so I gotta be doing something right
Because Poetry saved my life no more tears, forgotten peers, facing my fears, switching gears just doing me you see I need someone to clap for me praying for serenity that’s now my destiny
The devil has already come for me torn off the cross richesousness vs. wickedness
My expressive accomplish lyrical salvation so can I get a witness
Re-reading this piece in total bliss
Ghetto Poetry will never be the same since Lazarus has come home
They can’t fathom where I from the dark murky hellish fire of damnation is like a vacation
Once walked with holy men and life takers at the same time
Died twice over because it was my time resurrected everytime I write a rhyme so it just feels right I don’t know about you but once again Poetry has saved my life
In his image a conscious concept of the eleventh step a set of principles of divine intervention
Immaculate Conception an immortal connection of written excellence mere imperfections
An omniscience of infinite knowledge the divine simplicity of eternal and very necessary existence a moral obligation of predominance of Arm, Leg, Leg, Arm, Head
Misled and misfed from different religions this is the grand design of the lyrical divine the light shines through the pen to capture the essence of this certain time in existence that was documented
