An Unsent Letter
My Dearest Love,
Having not seen you for far to long,
has thrown my heart into the well of sorrow.
Your prolonged absence from my sight,
does not mean I have forgotten you.
Everything I see, everyday, everywhere,
reminds me that you are not with me.
My hands are so cold,
without yours there to warm them.
My lips feel so lost,
without yours there to kiss.
My arms so useless,
without you here for me to hold.
My heart is so empty,
without your love here to fill it.
My world has been slowly crumbling since you left,
pieces fall everyday, destroying what beauty I could still see.
I know that you had to go away,
and I'm not blaming you for going.
How much longer must I stay alone,
with only half of my heart alive.
The last thing you said before leaving,
still haunts my every waking moment;
"I Have To Go Now, Dear. I Can't Tell You Where Or Why.
I Love You, My Darling, With All My Heart. Please Wait For Me!"
As you ran down the driveway, climbing in to that jeep,
I knew that I had no choice but to wait for you.
Still Waiting, and Always Will.
Still Hurting, Deeper By The Day.
Still Loving, With Everything I Am.
With hope that I'll see my beautiful wife again one day,
A Soldier's Husband
(this is a work of fiction, but is dedicated to all the Husbands who are married to Soldiers on active duty, like a couple of my friends)
